Our motivation

Maximum accessibility for all!

When we think of accessibility, many people first think of people with disabilities. For them, accessibility is a fundamental prerequisite for being able to participate in social life at all.

A second large group is older people. They also benefit immensely from a barrier-free environment, because with increasing age, physical complaints and minor limitations, such as poorer hearing or eyesight, usually arise.

Other groups to consider here are children or parents with children, people with temporary disabilities, such as suppliers. Accessibility helps them all to better manage their everyday lives.

The fact that this group will become even more important in the future due to demographic change is an essential aspect that lends special sustainability to barrier-free design.

Often one hears the rule of thumb that accessibility is essential for 10%, necessary for 30% and comfortable for 100%. This view is explained by the above - accessibility ultimately benefits everyone!

The most conspicuous are certainly people with mobility disabilities - especially wheelchair users and blind people. They are mostly associated with "disability" or "accessibility" by the general public. It is only on closer examination of the issue that it becomes clear that accessibility is much more complex.

Some EU Member States have already removed barriers to enable people with disabilities to participate fully in the labour market and in society. But for other countries, this remains a challenge.

In many countries, a lot has already been done in terms of accessibility. Above all, legal frameworks have been created in favour of affected persons.

Nevertheless, these are only insufficiently implemented because the necessity and obligation are only partially known by the public and the companies, or the service providers!

In view of the importance of the topic and the current situation compared to what should be in order to be able to experience a barrier-free and common togetherness, it motivates us to go new ways for a barrier-free future with the Patennetwork.
